Service
Fibre-tech are dedicated to providing technical solutions for the reduction and control of thermal output in diesel and gas turbine engines, exhaust manifold systems, catalytic converters and other applications including compliance with SOLAS regulations, using flexible, re-usable engine heat shields and exhaust insulation encapsulation systems.

SOLAS
The following is an extract from SOLAS Chapter 11-2, Regulation 15. "All surfaces with a temperature above 220 degrees centigrade, which may be impinged as a result of fuel system failure shall be properly insulated".

Product Characteristics
The Fibre-Tech range of engine heat shields and exhaust insulation, are capable of resisting extremely high temperatures and, can incorporate an external flexible stainless steel coating which is impervious to the ingress of fuel oils. Allowing the Super Heat Shield to be used in the most arduous conditions.

Thermal Characteristics
The multi-layered configuration of the engine heat shields and exhaust insulation is designed to enhance the thermal properties of the materials used in its construction, enabling surface temperatures to be reduced by 500% or more. Reverse applications include refrigeration units, heat exchangers and air intake systems used in hot climates, thereby improving performance and efficiency.

Mechanical Characteristics
Engine heat shields and exhaust insulation are constructed to operate in conditions where the highest temperatures and severe vibration is the norm.

Environmental
The application of Fibre-Tech's exhaust insulation onto catalytic converters ensures that exhaust gases are burnt leaner, reducing emissions and improving engine performance.

Risk Management and Safety
Engine heat shields and exhaust insulation reduce fire risk and staff will no longer be exposed to hazardous high surface temperatures associated with exhausts, manifolds, turbo-chargers and pipe-work etc.

Design
Through close liaison with our clients, and the use of CAD systems incorporating specialised software for thermal modelling, our design engineers ensure that the most efficient engine heat shields and exhaust insulation encapsulation systems are provided to meet complex engine and exhaust manifold configurations.
